In Franchesca Ramsey’s viral video, “S- - - White Girls Say … to Black Girls,” the comedian dons a blonde wig and pokes fun at silly — and sometimes offensive — conversations among women. But some people say the video isn’t funny, just racist.
’S- - - White Girls Say’ Parody: Offensive Or Funny? <— Tell Me More host Michel Martin chatted with Ramsey today.

Sorry, Francesca. Try to defend our “humor” based on experience all you want. the video is racist. Especially to those that have never said anything like this. I get that it’s funny, but it’s still racist.
I think some people need to take a class on parody and satire and maybe even racism. Parodying offensive shit that people say isn’t racism. The point of that video was to make some hilarious social commentary and open up the conversation to address why certain things—that so many black women hear on a regular basis—are actually offensive. The point is to get people to examine their behaviour and think about what they’re saying. Commenting on racism itself isn’t racist; where the hell does this idea come from? Why are people so quick to claim that discussing racism makes racism worse? How does that even work? How is that even logical? Why is it that people just shut down when people of colour attempt to talk about how casual racism hurts them? Why must the conversation always be about how people of colour are hurting white people’s feelings (Because oh no, how dare POC talk about how white people who say things like this make them feel! HOW DARE THEY!).
dear Natalie, this is you:
I saw the clip where she’s to be/was on Anderson Coopers’ talk show, and he said something like, “Well, don’t you think it’s a bit harsh to call people a racist? Isn’t that, like, a little bit of an assumption your making, just calling someone a racist?” or some shit. Really? A POC calling out someone, rightfully, on their racist behavior/speech/whatever is a bit “harsh” and a little too presumptuous? Sit the fuck down if you’re really going to play the hurt feefees on being questioned or called out for being racist.
what? really? he said that!?
ohhhh, Anderson

and, like, did she even say anything about racism in the video? Except for the last bit when her character was saying that shit black girls say was “kinda racist”?
But anyway, yes, Anderson, it’s kinda harsh, I mean let’s be real, but it’s nowhere near as harsh actually experiencing the racism & then having to deal w/more racism when you call it out & ppl are like “no! it can’t be! racism doesn’t exist anymore because Obama!”
Re: “shit white girls say…to black girls” video
It’s always okay to make fun of blonde females. Always. Sigh…
