Howl’s Moving Castle is an adaptation of a story written by an English lady, I think.

A couple of people have mentioned there are a couple of novels associated with it. I’m assessing it as a movie/anime at the moment &… not totally feeling it, TBH

I’m just going by the way the characters come across in the anime, which—I understand—may be very different from the books. But since Sophie is the most interesting character & she kind of bores me, and Howl is an insufferable prig the likes of Nellie Lawson, it’s probably not making it to my reading list.  =oP

The Witch of the Waste seems like she may have an interesting backstory, but I feel like that’s probably not explored in the books.
