today i was trapped in a car for two hours with someone who vehemently insisted that it was not racist for their white ass to say that if they saw a lot of black people ‘wandering around’ they were right to feel unsafe and expect to be mugged or harassed

ugh, this is one reason why I won’t do rideshares & why I’m super leery of asking for rides to anywhere remotely remote if I’ll be w/a white person who I don’t know very well. Last time I did & the convo took a racist turn, I was w/a 50yo gay man & asked about his coming out story. Turns out it was perfick bc he was so narcissistic, he didn’t realise I was trying to change the subject. I didn’t give two shits about his coming out, but I didn’t wanna hear him talk any more about the undocumented Mexican workers who he hire(d/s?) to work on his building projex.
